My company; Ortwin Thyssen Jewellery Maker is a small independent Jewellery Workshop and Shop situated in the historic city of Canterbury, Kent. Connected to our Showroom lies the workshop where we craft the jewellery. We like creating beautifully hand-crafted unique pieces tailored to customers' individual requirements and budgets. Our work is mostly undertaken in platinum, yellow or white gold and palladium - but pieces in Silver can be created.
I worked previously; designing, making and repairing pieces of jewellery for other retailers, I now enjoy meeting the customers in my own shop and workshop. I have twenty five years of jewellery making experience. After a classical apprenticeship in Muenster, Germany, where I was carefully trained in all the basic and many special techniques like chasing and granulation, I graduated as a Jewellery designer in Duesseldorf, Germany. In 1998 my whole family moved to Canterbury and since then I have worked here as Jewellery designer and diamond mounter.
Has anyone ever used any of the independent jewellers in Canterbury for bespoke work? I need a couple of rings made from other pieces. Any pics of work would be a bonus! Thanks!

Evening all! My partner and I are going into town next weekend to shop for wedding rings and were wondering if anyone has any recommendations / had any good experiences with jewellers in the city? Wayyy too many to choose from!

I'd also recommend Ortwin in Northgate - http://www.jewellery-maker.co.uk - he's made numerous rings, broaches etc for the family and is great at listening to and delivering what you want personally. He's not very expensive for (quality) bespoke requests. If you go in there make sure you mention that I recommend him (my dad was his accountant until he passed away). Good luck and I hope you find the right rings for you and your partner.
