  it is very helpful - so helpful I became a licensed acupuncturist myself! nccaom.org has an online listing of practitioners - you can search by zip code. make sure to see someone who has gone to acupuncture school for 3-4 years and not just a chiropractor or MD using acupuncture needles with little or no training - training and experience make a huge difference in results and safety!

  Please know that most States require licensing through [NCCAOM](http://www.nccaom.org/). Their site has a "find a practitioner" option if that helps. Most acupuncture programs require an understanding of at least basic "western" medicine. Which is not to say that all acupuncturists will be well-versed in it. Acupuncture can provide great relief, especially for intractable pain that hasn't responded to conventional treatment, and I hope your sister can get some relief (sinus pain sucks). That said, acupuncture can't cure cancer, so any practitioner who is making absurd claims for their practice should be taken with "a few grains of salt".

  Hi! RE: Acupuncturist, the best resources that I know of offhand are tryacupuncture.org and nccaom.org. Make sure you don't go to a chiro or MD who has minimal training, it's dangerous! They should be licensed by the state, have an Oriental Medcine degree and be NCCAOM certified I sure hope you find a good one - acupuncture and Chinese medicine are amazing!!! xoxoxo
