They went ahead and removed the "Review" feature on their facebook page so the negative reviews no longer show up. I paid in full upfront around the first trimester and then never heard from them again. I emailed them a few times and would hear back if I followed up a few times. During my pregnancy the baby was diagnosed with enlarged ventricles. Husband and I were very sad and we reached out to the doula, she promised to send us some information but she never did. She cancelled prenatal appointment many times. They are very unprofessional. I attended a birthing class with a birth educator and the NDDA called the instructor to find out what I was doing with her after they read my facebook post in a secret group where I mentioned I had taken a class. I felt my confidentiality was violated and I reached out to Melissa to express my concern and she basically said they routinely call other providers to get information about their clients to serve them better. From her email, "We often communicate with other educators, chiropractors etc who are working with our clients. We see it as a circle of care and it is essentially what creates an effective birth team" this is a clear violation of client confidentiality and HIPPA standards. They also messed up my birth plan (sent me another woman's quickly edited birth plan that had wrong information, wrong hospital name, and medical conditions that I had never heard of prior). When i told Melissa how displeased I was, instead of apologizing, she said she has been working hard to create her "Brand" and for every batch customers served, it is normal to have one unhappy customer. Turns out there are quite a few unhappy customers. I demanded my money back, per contract 50% of the money wasn't even supposed to be paid until the 37th week but I paid in full initially (and regretted it big time). She was very rude when I demanded the full refund and finally agreed to pay 50% of the money back, and said this in the email: "Your refund will be sent to you via paypal on or before the 15th of this month." although it takes a minute to refund via Paypal and it is a terrible way to treat customers to make them wait till a certain date, I was not an employee of hers, I did not deserve to be treated that way. I was very stressed out because of all the drama they created and I went into labor right away and my baby arrived a few weeks early on the 18th. A year later I threatened the doula to write a glowing review online and she refunded the other half of the money, A YEAR LATER!!! Please do not hire them unless you want drama and stress and want to lose your money and end up doula-less towards the end of your pregnancy.Thank you for your feedback. -
