About us
Once an active dairy farm, the 150 acre Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center landscape encompasses mature woodlands, old fields and several wetland types. This includes a two acre pond and streams and a hardwood swamp. In 1977 the Schumacher Pavilion was constructed of Connectcut stone and glass, and houses several exhibits, provides space for our
"ambassadors" and a Connecticut wildlife rehabilitation clinic. The unique visitor cent
er is also the hub of the park with classrooms, a nature store, a small history library
and office space. Ansonia Nature Center is open year round, except for major holidays, from sun up to sun down. Building hours vary with the season.
