About us
K-9 Control Training is a training company for dogs of all sizes and breeds. Our philosophy is that all dog owners are able to experience life with a controlled and well trained canine. We believe that our way of training is unique and is the most effective because of our approach. Our technique is to train your dog to be completely obedient for those who handle the canine. We use a 3 step system including evaluation, motivation, and action.
Here's what we offer:
1 Week Board & Train*- includes all on leash heal, sit, down, stay, come, and place commands. Comes with all proper equipment to continue training at home and 1 one hour follow up lesson.
2 Week Board & Train*- Includes all on and off leash heal, sit, down, stay, come, and place commands. Comes with all proper equipment to continue training at home and 3 one hour follow up lessons.
3 Week Board & Train*- Includes all on and off leash which will incorporate silent commands heal, sit, down, stay, come, and place. Comes with all proper equipment to continue training at home and 4 one hour follow up lessons.
*After completion, unlimited group classes are held twice a month.
When picking up your dog, the trainer will help make the transition between the training facility and the owner. You will learn how to handle your newly trained canine.
Our head-trainer recently left law enforcement where he was special operations over the K-9 division and has over 10 years of experience with canine training.

One is fairly chill (although he sometimes gets worked up because of my other dog) and has done CGC (although not taken the test) and agility. My other dog is a hot mess. Very leash reactive with people and especially other dogs. Super sweet to us and our two year old, but really takes a long time to warm up to strangers. I have taken her to obedience and reactive dog classes in Wichita and that helped a bit, but mostly there are just a lot fewer dogs in Wichita so it is a lot easier to avoid situations that put her over threshold. However, here in Charleston there are a ton of dogs. I did not see this topic mentioned in the sidebar or wiki. Any suggestion for trainers specializing in reactive dogs/rescues? I would prefer to avoid dominance theory trainers and instead utilize positive reinforcement.

I have a rescue pit bull, who is not stranger friendly or leash friendly - he had her chilling out in less than 10 minutes. Talked about how it's important to retrain their brains, instead of the whole alpha/dominant thing. He can train in German or Russian, too. Immaculate facility. Law enforcement uses him for their training, too. Not cheap, so I'm saving up for it, but absolutely worth it. I found him through a friend, who had their rescue trained for off leash commands. I was in awe. Best behaved dog ever!!
