I hired Prestige Cleaning over 2 months ago prior to my move earlier this month. Was explicitly clear on my expectations for a deep clean. Spent lots of time researching and was confident in my choice. I have never been more disappointed. have serious cat allergies to boot so detailed deep cleaning (with a specific list!) was included and discussed at length with the owner Lacy who was clear that she could 100% deliver on my expectations after discussing both verbally and reviewing said list. Was quoted $85/hour for 2 professional cleaners (in writing) and told it would take min 5 hours (verbally). I told her numerous times that I did not care how long it took but what was most important was that everything was done in the manner we discussed. Provided detailed written expectations of what I wanted prior to booking, after booking and the day of the clean! No surprises as to what I wanted done. Reassurance that it would be “easy peasy” mentioned numerous times. About a month prior to the move, I asked to switch dates to one day prior, due to the movers changing dates on me. There was a miscommunication and she kept me booked for the original date (a Thursday instead of Wednesday). Nevertheless, she rearranged things and came last minute Wednesday. Great! She was supposed to come at 12/1 pm but showed up around 2:30 pm. She only then told me she’d have to leave by 5:30 pm and we agreed she’d come back the next day to finish the job as I didn’t want her to sacrifice the clean due to her lack of time. I once again reiterated that I didn’t care how long it took or what it cost but that the job just needed to be done to my expectations. She showed up with her mom to clean (who told me she just helps at times) and a young boy, clearly not a professional as he didn’t know how to use a microfiber pad on the wall (flat out asked her what he was supposed to do and how to do it - then dinged my wall as he dropped it) to get the cat hair off walls. In less than 10 mins (the time we did a walk-through of the house), he said he completed half the main floor : 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, the linen closet, and all adjoining hallways. I asked him skeptically “really, already?” and he said “yep” proudly. This made me doubt his attention to detail, but I shrugged it off thinking she’d double check. So, she ended up texting me she’d stay and finish instead of coming back the next day and would be done at 6:30 pm. I was at my old house and couldn’t verify the job, but hubby was working in the garage at the new house and paid her what she asked. She charged $115/hour instead of the $85/hour citing she had 3 cleaners instead of 2. When I came to check out the house the next day, I was shocked to see that most things we discussed were not cleaned. I paid $590 total ($130 for steam and $115 for 4 hours - now that I think about it, isn’t the steam just hot water?! I’m feeling even more robbed!) I expressed to her that I was super happy with some major things she seemingly took care of (master shower, master sinks, fridge, gas stove top) but super disappointed in everything else. Bot just the detailed stuff but also basic surface cleaning stuff. None of the closets, shelves, or baseboards were touched, most of the drawers untouched, floors not mopped properly (just had to wet a paper towel and wipe against the floor and it was black), kitchen island not cleaned, windows not cleaned, tv mounts were embedded in cat hair, fireplace mantle not cleaned, cabinets in the family room were filled with dust cat hair debris etc., a piece of metal furniture was coated with dust and cat hair and untouched etc. all these things were shown prior and asked to be cleaned. The house was empty without furniture so it was pretty obvious what needed to be done and to get to it. It was evidently obvious what wasn’t done given it was empty. So, I expressed my disappointment in a soft way, and she was fully understanding and offered to come back the at Friday 1 pm. to finish the job properly and tackle what was missed due to her lack of time. I commended her on her customer service, and we were in great terms. She never showed up! I called, text and at 9 pm she said her phone died and she went home to spend time with her kids. At this point, I was very upset. I was up until 4 am tidying up the house so my family and kids (with allergies) could move in on Saturday. I sent her a very diplomatic and explicit message (which I can copy paste below) and her response to which she offered a $115 rebate. She further said that because I pay my current cleaning lady xx/hour at my old house (a townhouse, a fraction the size of my new house, so much less), that my expectations were unreasonable. Um, what?! I did not feel like this rebate was acceptable, but I recognized that I wasn’t going to get anything else. I was so disappointed that I hired her to do a job and she messed up the date, didn’t do the job she was hired for, charged me more for it and failed to show up to finish the job after offering to do so! I paid $590 for a very basic clean (NOT PROFESSIONAL OR MOVE IN READY) and then spent HOURS myself cleaning including until 4 am on the Friday so it could be move in ready with my young kids. My mother-in-law spent an additional 7 hours doing the lining closet, kitchen, pantry, laundry room, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. Oh and my mother spent 1 hour alone in the master shower. Lacy just passed the steam on the wall tiles and sent me a pic of the dirt dripping. She didn’t clean anything off the shower doors, corners, grout etc. The number of black chunks that came out from underneath the shower doors was appalling. She did not clean that shower. I can’t understand how this cleaning company can make false promises and fail to deliver. Wouldn’t you want to do the job your hired for and have repeat business? Why promise you can clean to a customer’s expectations and be SO FAR OFF from what you give and charge them for your mistakes?
