Can anyone recommend a stately country house hotel type place that does lunch within an hour or so of Sherwood please.... this kind of thing? (For lunch not accommodation)

Langar Hall too or, maybe a little over an hour Hassop Hall near Bakewell. There’s also Hambleton Hall in Oakham. Again a little over an hour though.

B&B recommendations, 30 mins drive from Nottingham max, for next Thursday night. Can anyone help me out?! Would really appreciate some recommendations:
Perhaps you've heard good things or you've been there..Somewhere where we can walk to a pub for dinner and the people are friendly.. A walk through some countryside would be a plus too!

Hmm, don't know any B&B's but there are some nice relatively reasonable hotels. http://www.scalfordhall.co.uk/ http://www.langarhall.com/ Oh, there is one near my parents that is meant to be quite nice. http://www.peacock-farm.co.uk/index.html edit: here looks nice too http://www.theoldchaffbarn.co.uk/
