About us
The Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center is a place for all people to grow, learn, and celebrate!
Wil-Mar may be best known for our roles in the eastside summer festivals, including La Fete de Marquette, the Willy Street Fair, and AtwoodFest--however, there is always something to enjoy at Wil-Mar as well!
Take a look at our fitness classes, dance programs, and wellness workshops on our website at www.wil-mar.org/classes.
More information about Wil-Mar's programs and services:
The After School Program is a State Licensed and City Accredited Day Care for youth ages 5-12, serving the Tenny Lapham , Emerson Elementary, Marquette and O'Keefe Schools. Structured activities, including music lessons, homework time, and sports clubs, and a well balanced meal are provided each day.
The Food Pantry is open on Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 pm. We encourage guests to bring identification and proof of address; guests may use the pantry once every 30 days.
A hot, nutritious Free Community Meal is served each Saturday from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. On average, more than 100 meals are served each week, 52 weeks a year! All ingredients are provided by Wil-Mar; the meals are prepared by five volunteer groups: Forest Product Lab Forestette Group, St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Downtown Kiwanis Club, Monona-Madison Kiwanis Club, and a local group of neighbors.
Wil-Mar's Senior Meal and activities take place every Monday. Gentle Yoga, done in chairs, is offered from 10:30-11:30 am. This is a drop-in class and suggested donation only ($3-5, or pay what you can!). After yoga, seniors gather to enjoy a hot meal and companionship at noon. Workshops on healthy living, nutrition, personal care, and safety in the home are provided during this time; afterwards, seniors enjoy cards or take in a movie matinee.
Wil-Mar provides two summer camps for our community's youth: a full day camp at Wil-Mar for 9 weeks, and Eastside Express, a half-day camp at Marquette Elementary for 6 weeks every summer. Both camps offer a wide... show more
range of activities for 5-12 year-olds, including arts & crafts, games, field trips, swimming lessons, and much more. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are also included. Both camps also provide young teens with their first volunteer and employment opportunities.
