About us

The Department was established through the Mental Health Law of 1953, although publicly supported services to Oklahomans with mental illness date back to early statehood. The Department provides services through a statewide network of programs, working hard to respond to clients' needs with effective programs that are conveniently located and easy to access. For individuals with mental illness, ODMHSAS supports a continuum of programs from community-based treatment and case management to acute inpatient care. Programs for individuals dependent on alcohol or other drugs range from outpatient counseling to extended residential treatment. The Department also actively supports prevention programs to reduce the occurrence of substance abuse, violence, and other harmful behaviors among young people.

Asking for a friend. I need a couple of very specific recommendations... In need of a psychiatrist and a counselor for an adopted teen girl with mild high functioning autism and pre-adoption history of abuse (physical, sexual, and neglect). Need a psychiatrist to manage her meds for depression/anxiety/cutting. Need a counselor who is very experienced with sexual abuse issues, autism, depression/suicidal thoughts and cutting. Child will have Medicaid until August... Possibly past that (via her adoption subsidy). Would prefer the Duncan area of possible. Willing to go to Lawton if needed. Christian counseling a plus but not absolute.

i work in the mental health field... and have dealt with a lot of the names listed above and if i had a child that needed or wanted help... dr caccoppoli in lawton at taliaferro would be my choice... AND after medicaid was cut off... IF it is... they may work out an indigent program for her.. 1-580-248-5780
