Does anyone here have a recommendation for good places to stay in London? I figure this is a better venue to ask than some British "sauce" counterpart, because people in this group probably travel and may know of places to stay, whereas people who live there may not know the hotel situation. Here's what I'm looking for: 1) Location. Ideally something within easy reach of West Central London (the British Museum, the National Gallery, Covent Garden, Hyde Park). That means something close to a subway station. 2) Safety. I know Los Angeles or Paris have virtual "no go" zones. I assume London does too. Trying to avoid that. 3) Cost. I like to travel on a shoe string. Beyond that, it could be anything: a youth hostel, a dorm, a cheap hotel. I have no experience with B&Bs, but nothing's off the table. I am open to any idea.
