I never do this... but anyone have recommendations on where to stay in LA? It's so damn big. Preferably as central to downtown/Hollywood as possible but also interested in Pasadena or beach areas. Hit me!

i stayed here last summer - directly accross the street from the grove, parking for the rental car and a really great restaurant attached (TART) http://farmersdaughterhotel.com/
Planning a trip to LA and New York with a big group. Any recommendations on the best areas to stay in LA and/or New York? Are there any nice hotels you can recommend in either of these states? Preferably with outdoor swimming pools.
