  Moving from NY to SANTA BARBARA, need real estate help! I am moving from NYC to SB and I have been looking in the following areas to rent a 1 bedroom/1 bath: Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Summerland, Monticito, Carpinteria. We are moving Mid-August and the budget is anything lower than $1300 a month. I have called around and have been told that there aren't brokers or real estate agents that can help find a place. Is that true? Any help would be welcome if anyone has a recommendation on someone to help us find a place.

  sorry to bear bad news but you will have a hard time finding a 1 bed 1 bath for lower than 1300. at that price range you will find a decent studio with about 600 square feet. if you dont mind paying a finder's fee, my wealthy friend has used http://www.preferredrental.com/ to find high-end rentals. i have the same budget as you and i've always found craigslist to be a very liquid market.
