  Can anyone recommend volunteering opportunities in Monroe? Matthew House? Take the Next Step? Any food banks? I am in school at EVCC and will need to complete a few hours of hands on volunteering through a shelter/Community outreach, or something similar in the next few weeks. There are plenty of places in Everett, but would like to explore some options local as it would be nice to continue when I can outside of school assignments!! Bonus points if anyone knows where I can have kids tag along, would love to involve them if I can. TIA!!

  Looking for thoughts and Ideas on charitable orgs ... preferably local... that apply the greater portions of their donations towards the actual cause and not towards admin costs. Been trying to assist a friend with Estate Planning decisions which has also provoked thoughts of personal considerations. In doing so, the discovery process upon researching of some of their thoughts on choices found that for the most part, by reviewing the quarterly and annual return filings.... a large percentage seem to attribute minimally 60-85% of the generated revenues towards admin costs....like cars, trips, etc. Therefore, any positive commentary on this is appreciated.

  The Sky Valley Food Bank here in Monroe does such wonderful work and keeps everything local. Talk with Neil Watkins, the Director of the food bank. This program reaches so many families that otherwise would not be able to have good food to feed their children as well as themselves. There are so many families with both parents working who sill don't make a decent wage to feed their families. They are hard working people. There are also people who are retired or disabled and have a difficult time making their social security dollars stretch each month after paying their bills, visiting their doctors and buying meds. The food bank has several wonderful special programs that you may be interested in also, involving the children of the community.
