Can anyone recommend a place that does recovery of external hard drive data? Bought an external hard drive 8-10 years ago, loaded pics and music on it and let it sit in a drawer. Decided to transfer that stuff to the cloud recently only to find that the drive was dead. Amy recommendations on companies that can recover my data?
Edit: you are all super helpful - awesome to live in a tech town! Btw - when you guys say expensive, what are we talking about? A few hundred? A few thou? (Eek!)

Second on DriveSavers. Also Kroll Ontrack. It's gonna be expensive... https://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/ https://www.krollontrack.com/ No recommendations from Amy though.
Can anyone recommend a phenomenal local business that can help us recover data from a hard drive that is having issues? It’s all the pictures of my babies, so I need someone excellent who knows what they are doing.

Go direct to this company - https://www.krollontrack.com/ - They are in FV and do an excellent job. Don't bother going to small computer shops, as they can usually only use software tools and those only get you so far.
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to send a hard drive that crashed to try and get the pics off? I have a friend who didn't back up and now needs to try and save some (Didn't want anyone to think I hadn't backed up!)

Vendor disk recovery can be pricey.....we've used http://www.krollontrack.com/ with some success
Recommendation for Data Recovery Company Could I get a solid recommendation for a Data Retrieval specialist? I have a failed hard drive (platters won't spin) that has some important data on it. Time to send it away, but who to trust? Thank you.

Kroll OnTrack http://www.krollontrack.com/ I've used them personally. I have friends from college who majored in forensics that work there as well. Pretty affordable for single drives, can get be expensive depending on the type and amount of media and the type of damage.
Need to help a friend with an urgent data recovery issue. He accidentally formatted SD card in his Canon C100. Video and audio files. Suggestions for recovering. Already trying DiskWarrior. Other ideas?

Don't touch the card or try any other software. Send it to http://www.krollontrack.com/
I need someone who is or knows a external hard drive repair person. Someone who can recover files form an external hard drive. Geek squad failed. Help if you can. Thanks.

Good for data recovery: www.krollontrack.com Otherwise I would contact the manufacturer of the device. I found that Seagate was very helpful when I had my external hard drive issue, but when the problem surpassed their capabilities, they referred out.
Typical cost of data recovery on hard drive with probable physical failure?? I dropped my WD Passport (inside a hard case) today. Now, it will not register on my computer, it's making the clicking/beeping noise of death, and it stops spinning after about 30 seconds.
I'm seeing different prices for data recovery on the internet, most of which I can't afford on my poor teacher's salary! I'd love to find out that the prices I'm seeing are inflated. Anything will help!
Also, if anyone knows a good (cheap) company, I'd love to hear about it. I would definitely appreciate any advice, as I am not well versed in technology.

[Ontrack](http://www.krollontrack.com/) is a company we deal with when we have customers that loose must have data.... range depends on the extent of the damage but starts at $650 and goes up to $2000 for desktop/laptop/external drives
