  I have a couple questions about wood. Tupelo, what is a source for good tupelo and why would someone recommend that you only power carve it and not take a knife to it? Basswood, I have to order it and don't have room to stockpile it. My experience in ordering from a few places is they send me the hard stuff. I really think I get the hard basswood because they know it's too costly to return. I live in the Carolinas with no local resource. Any suggestions on an honest supplier of softer wood?

  Heinecke or Rod Wilcox are good sources that both have very good basswood and butternut. Rod has always provided great quality wood to me and several other carvers in the area. He does a lot of the shows also. http://www.wilcoxcarvingwood.com/
