  Calling all Arizona peeps: I have a friend looking for a good restaurant in the downtown Phoenix area that would be able to accommodate a large group (about 20-30 people). I told them that a local Mexican restaurant in AZ would probably blow their minds (since they're all used to mid-Atlantic Mexican cuisine...yeah, I'm sure I don't have to say anymore) but I have no idea where to go in Phoenix. Does anyone have any suggestions? Miss you guys!

  That's really my only Mexican food recommendation. We live in Avondale so don't really go downtown much for Mexican food. Other places in the area that we love (though I'm not entirely certain whether they'd be able to accommodate a party as large as yours): Welcome Diner (http://www.marthaandmary.net/welcomediner/) - everything they make is awesome and their Hurricanes can get you easily buzzed at little cost. Crescent Ballroom (http://www.crescentphx.com/kitchen/) - depending on what time & day you're shooting for, this could be a giant mess, especially if a concert is happening that night. Love their burritos & tacos & Honey Badgers. If it doesn't necessarily need to be dinner, or breakfast is to be had as well, you can't go wrong with Matt's Big Breakfast (http://www.mattsbigbreakfast.com/). We wake up early & make the drive down there at least once a month, knowing full well that we're going to have a bit of a wait especially if we aren't there before 8:00, but it's always worth it. Lastly, Carly's Bistro (http://www.carlysbistro.com/menu/appetizers), which is where we go for First Friday if we forget what a nightmare parking can be downtown when it's First Friday.
