  Are there any parents out there of HIGH school students in SC that home school their kids? Im considering pulling my freshman out of SCHS. I would really love to talk to someone who has personally done this and get some recommendations/information/advice. Im considering a PSA or PSP program. Im not sure I want to look at anything involved with the OC school district or an online out of state since I dont want to run into CA compliance issues.   I am in desperate need of advice. My 7th grader has low self-esteem, which has completely led to her basically giving up. I took her out of school 2 months ago and home schooling has been a nightmare. She's behind schedule and the semester is almost over. She has already turned "teenagery" on me and wont work with me well. I've hired a math teacher who has helped tremendously with catching her up in that area, but she isn't motivated. I'm basically seeking advice about how I can school her with the most amount of teacher interaction from home without having to pay a tutor full time. Has anyone tried CAVA? Any suggestions? I'm trying to avoid making her repeat.

  My 8 th grader attended CAVA and he didn't like it. They have tutors but, it's on certain days and has to be when the virtual teacher is available for tutoring. I switched him over to https://www.facebook.com/pages/California-Pacific-Charter/182824531779246 and he's doing really well. Very nice teac hers and the teachers are willing to work with the child. Cava is ok for the elementary aged child, but once they start getting into the higher grades, they leave it up to the child to basically figure it out themselves. We also tried https://www.facebook.com/pages/Connections-Academy/104173922953028 and they too, are ok for younger kids, but as you get older and have to write reports, etc.. they tend to let the child learn for themselves. My son quit Connections Academy because he was accused of libel, even though I was there helping him with the essay. The principal of the school took the teachers side and basically said F U . Also with CAVA, if they see that your child is behind a semester, they will make you finish those semesters credits, and once they are finished then your child would be able to move onto the current lessons.
