About us

Great Hope Preschool is developmentally appropriate in its approach to early childhood care and education. We allow for individual growth and development. Our program provides each child with the opportunity to attach firmly to a warm, responsive, appropriate, and consistent adult during the early years of your child’s life. Continuous care in our preschool setting will give a child a secure base for exploration of the world around him/her, comfort in times of stress, and a source of stimulation and joy. We believe that children learn best by active exploration of their learning environment through play. Play is the foundation for academic learning and discoveries. We use Creative Curriculum for birth to five and Pinnacle for OST. According to Jean Piaget’s theory, learning is established through play and exposure to a variety of experiences. Lesson plans are posted and implemented in each classroom. We believe that a home away from home should provide a warm, positive, understanding, safe, secure, and loving, place for a child to play and learn. Children are individuals with unique and special needs.

FREE VOLUNTARY PREKINDERGARTEN (VPK)
Voluntary Prekindergarten or VPK gives children a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills. By developing the skills children need to become strong readers and students at an early age, children are more likely to be successful in school. VPK classrooms offer high-quality programs that include high literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curricula, manageable class sizes, and qualified teachers. If your child turns 4 years of age by September 1, your child is eligible for Florida’s FREE VPK program. Your child can attend one of the two programs offered annually. The school-year program includes 540 hours of instructional time and begins in August. The summer program consists of 300 instructional hours and can begin as early as May 1.

PARENT MEETING
Is an opportunity for parents to have a voice and provide opinions on preschool policy and procedures. Programmatic information is sought and input welcomed. These meetings afford parents the opportunity to learn tips and strategies to help make the educational process for their children a successful one. A typical parent meeting will address the interest or topic of the previous month’s groups. Staff will give an update about the Preschool and take parent concerns before adjourning. Refreshments and childcare provided. If you can not attend that is not a problem. The meeting are recorded on Facebook and offered LIVE.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Family activities include informal groups for children and parents. Throughout the year various activities will be coordinated so that families can spend time bonding with others.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS IN LITERACY PROGRAM (PPL)
Literacy is an essential piece to a child’s overall development. Reading allows parents/guardians to spend quality time with their child that is both entertaining and educational.

• LENDING LIBRARY
On the honor system we allow parents/guardians to check out and use our library, so that they may read at home with their children.
• LITERACY ACTIVITIES will be sent home biweekly in the newsletter. Materials for these projects can be requested from your child’s teacher.
• TEACH AT HOME VIDEOS To make learning at home a bit easier Great Hope Preschool publishes videos to assist parents with learning ideas at home. Our goal is to provide hands on strategies to help close the learning gap from school to home. http://www.youtube.com/c/GreatHopeWesleyChapel

FAMILY SUPPORT
Family support can be defined as whatever it takes to increase a family’s ability to care for their children and improve the family’s quality of life. We offer: parent meetings, family activities, referral to community resources and social service agencies, classroom intervention, information and education to improve care giving, family plan/goals and other formal and informal support and encouragement. 7.C.05 show more
