I recently had an unpleasant experience with Jett Plumbing, and I strongly feel that potential customers should exercise caution. I required a simple installation of a new nipple fitting on a water inlet and the unclogging of a toilet upstairs, as it turned out that a child's fidget spinner was blocking the flush. However, when I received the bill from Paul Jett, the total amounted to an astonishing $340.00. Considering the relatively small-scale nature of the tasks and the fact that his employee completed them in under an hour and a half, I found this pricing to be excessively high. When I expressed my concerns about the exorbitant charges to Paul, he informed me that regardless of the job's size, if his employee's presence extended into the next hour, he would charge for the entire hour. This response only further aggravated my dissatisfaction with the amount I was being charged. While I reluctantly paid the bill, I am adamant that I will never utilize their services again, nor will I recommend them to anyone else. As homeowners, we have numerous options when it comes to selecting tradespeople such as plumbers, and I strongly advise against choosing this particular company due to their apparent practice of overcharging.

We hired Jett Plumbing to install a tankless water heater in a home we purchased. During the installation, I asked the installer if the work would be performed to Maryland Code. He replied that if I wanted this done to code, he would have to make some changes, rent equipment, and change how he was installing the unit. He came back a while later with a hammer drill and reconfigured some of his original work so that the work would be up to code. We later found out that Jett Plumbing did not pull the required permits necessary to do contracted plumbing work in Maryland. When I asked the owner about this he said it’s more trouble than it’s worth but he would pull a permit. The permit was submitted by Jett (at no charge) and the inspector failed the installation because it was not installed to code even after we were told it would be. The inspector said the way it was installed could have caused poisonous fumes to push back into our home. Jett came back that day to fix the required issue. After this issue, we discovered that the tankless water heater pushed our home’s BTU usage far over the meter’s recommended threshold. I’m not a plumber so I asked Paul Jett about this and why this was never mentioned when we discussed using a water tank (40k btu) vs a tankless (200k btu) and he said that was his fault for not having that conversation before we spent the money to have the tankless installed in our home. To fix THIS issue, we started the process to have our meter upgraded. I was unable to get the correct information on what needed to be submitted for this process and asked Paul Jett if he knew. He said he knew the head inspector personally and could call him to find out what we needed. A day later Paul sent me an invoice for $150 to have a permit pulled and onsite inspection. I immediately paid the bill and asked for clarification because I was told no onsite inspection was scheduled or required. I asked for a partial or full refund due to the fact Baltimore County permits only cost $30 and there was no onsite visit required. He refused and stated there would also be an additional cost to come back and turn the gas back on after the meter was upgraded. I again asked for clarification on the billing and expectations to which he replied I should work with another plumber at this point.

BEWARE!!! I was just billed $180 in labor charges for 57 minutes worth of work !!!! I had two VERY easy plumbing issues that needed attention. The plumber from Jett showed up late but seemed competent. He did switch out my Kohler fill valve with a generic, non-Kohler part, but it seemed to work. So now I have a Franken-Kohler toilet. But the shocker was when the bill came and I realized I was being charged $180 for the 57 minutes in labor. ONLY AFTER I complained about the charge was I told by the owner that certain things he charges a “flat fee” for vs. an hourly rate. This was NEVER disclosed to me during the estimate process or ANYWHERE on his web site. As a bonus, the owner also insulted me and called me “obnoxious” for questioning the outrageous labor charge. If the owner had been upfront and honest about the flat fee, I would have chosen an entirely different faucet (one with side spray and disconnecting nozzle)...but I choose a “classic” simple faucet to minimize installation hassle (and labor cost I thought). I feel like an old duped fool that has been taken advantage of. BEWARE !!!

I had 2 leaks-outside, the main pipes, and inside, between the floors. They came in and didn't even look at inside leak, though I specifically told them about it. They shut off water to come fix the outside leak when it would be warmer, in a month. Then a month later they didn't show up at agreed time (set a month in advance!!!), and when they came they weren't prepared to fix that leak outside, for which we actually had this appointment made and set a date a month in advance!!! And the plumber wanted to drill concrete inside of the house between floors for the second leak, even though there was no water, and he just couldn't even know where the leak was coming from. And when later I consulted with other plumbers, they said it was unnecessarily, stupid and dangerous!!!!! And the owner never contacted me after that and never returned my texts about when would they come now, even though I was nice and tried to work with them. Would absolutely not recommend this company!!!
