Hi, Neighbors. Can anyone recommend a good chimney inspector? It's our first winter in our house, and we want to make sure the chimney is safe before we start lighting things on fire. Thanks.

Does any one know of any good chimney cleaners. We tried our fire place a couple times when we moved in and smoke was going into the garage below. Hoping to enjoy a yule log this holiday.

We used Excel Chimney Service a while back for more extensive repairs. They were professional, clean (important with fireplace work!) and reasonable. When they bid the work they were honest and told us our flue didn't need cleaning and probably wouldn't for several years, if ever, at the rate we use our fireplace. http://excelchimney.com/
Can anyone recommend the right sort of person to call for mold/roof/fireplace repair near my fireplace on the ceiling? It looks like maybe their is water/moisture coming in from where the roof and firplace meet but our roof is new (was replaced by the seller when we purchased one year ago) so this should most certainly not be happening...

First I would contact the roofing company (or maybe a different one to get a 2 nd opinion) to see if it was their error. Sounds like it might be, and the roof should still be under warranty. If it's a chimney issue I would recommend Excel Chimney & Fireplace Service (206) 679-5586.
Does anyone know a reliable chimney sweeper? I hope to get my fireplace safely- operationaI. I am a fish out of water with this query....

Excel Chimney & Fireplace is more a masonry/repair outfit if you think you need anything like that. The owner is Dick Murray 206-679-5586. They rebuilt the entire interior of our old fireplace, as well as adding a vent for more efficient performance. They kept everything clean in what was a dirty job, and the results looked great.
