I was a foster and adopted a dog through Outpaws. My experience as a foster the first time around was fine. They seemed to have a deep passion for helping as many animals as possible. The adoption process was quick and easy. My second time fostering was a complete disaster. Unfortunately, they are unable to provide much background and information on many of their animals. I was told the shelters they work through give them very little to no information. There is no behavioral screening or training done prior to the placements of dogs into foster homes. The second dog I fostered ended up showing signs of aggression. He also could not go down stairs that led in and out of my house. I immediately tried contacting the organizer of this rescue stating my fears and challenges. She did not respond once, but rather posted on their public Facebook Forum how I was an uncommitted foster who was threatening to dump the dog. My safety or the well being of the dog was not shown to be valued at all by the organizer. No solutions were provided by the organizer, instead others in the group mostly suggested to just be patient with the dog. In speaking with a professional trainer about the behaviors of the dog, he agreed this was not to be taken lightly and that professional training would be highly recommended. My safety should not be put at risk nor was the living environment healthy for the dog. I had no success in having direct communication with the organizer of this rescue, but instead she negatively bashed me on social media twice exposing my name and falsely claiming that I did not care. I was informed that I was one of many who had experiences with this individual. The poor handling of certain situations like mine and lack of support, drove many fosters away. Be very weary of fostering through this organization. I would suggest working through much more responsive and well organized rescues such as PawsCo.
