Hi. 2 years after a near fatal riding accident, I have now been given the all clear to ride again. Unfortunately it has left me with permanent nerve damage. My consultant has suggested trying para dressage. I am desperate to get back on a horse. My horses had to be sold after the accident so I no longer have a dressage horse of my own - hope to change that in the near future. So, is there a separate para dressage group? What do I need to do to get graded - I have all my hospital notes and a letter from my consultant confirming the diagnosis. We now live just outside Salisbury, Wilts, having just moved, so I do not know the equestrian scene here at all. Is there any one local or a reasonable distance who could help me re-train (I would need to borrow a school master for lessons and I can see vast amounts of lunging in my future) and to help me start the process of finding the right horse? I am 45 so no spring chicken but loved my affiliated dressage prior to the accident. Also is there anyone in this area who does equine related pilates etc? I am awaiting funding for Oaksey House for some further intensive equine focussed rehab. Local RDA has a massive wait for adults, and the best local riding school does not lunge and has never worked with a para rider. Any help or contacts welcome!
