  Sports/orthopedic doctor recommendations Hey all! I’m sure some of you will think this post is stupid.... but I’m looking for a recommendation for a physician, I just turned 30 years old and even though I’ve been an athlete my whole life (travels all over, played NCAA) my injuries and the wear and tear have caught up to my joints and muscles and I’m actually afraid I’m experiencing early arthritis... I want a doctor who specifically deals with athletes, and can understand the life style I previously endured and the one I’m trying to maintain now. Can anyone help out? Thanks !

  Well, you're in luck. Colorado has some of the best orthopedics in the country. We really love to blow out our knees on the ski slope.   I went to Vail as the insurance company decides reimbursement anyway. The Steadman clinic is world famous. I was misdiagnosed here in Montrose, and thankfully the Vail doctor caught it and did the correct surgery. http://thesteadmanclinic.com/

  Verdict is in on my shoulder!! Will need at least a two phased surgery. The first to fix a non union fracture of the acromioclavicular joint. Dr. Luker would put a rod in and reposition that joint to stabilize the area. That would be a 6 to 9 month recovery. Then he would do a reverse total shoulder....a fairly new surgery to replace the shoulder and rotator cuff. I probably will get a second opinion and of course will wait until Scott is on his his way to a full recovery. Have any of you had a reverse shoulder replacement? I googled it and it does not sound fun but he told me I need to do this or I will not be able to use my right arm at all in a few years. Any advise??

  Contact the Steadman Clinic in Vail. Dr. J. Richard Steadman. 970-476-1100. They are experts in research and care of RSD/CRPS. I went there when I lived in Vail and they helped put me in remission. Good luck!
