  The three of us in our family each use a different doctor at the Cameron Medical Group in downtown SS (near Tastee Diner at corner of Georgia Ave and Cameron St.).   http://www.cameronmedicalgroup.com/physicians.html in Silver Spring. They used to be in a private group practice but joined with GW. Ruth Kevess-Cohen, in particular, has an outstanding reputation throughout the Washington area. The other docs are very good. I've heard good things from people whose opinion I respect about the NP and PA but I have no knowledge about them. Of course, it always depends on what you're looking for in, and from, a physician and the kind of relationship that you want from them as an individual and a physician.
