A friend of mine, who can read only treble clef (she is a violinist by training), is learning the treble viol and she is looking for a method in either French or English that would help her specifically with that instrument.   Martha Bishop has a method book which I haven't seen. I mention it because she has also published another book I do own. "24 Melodic and Progressive Exercises for Viola da Gamba" for treble, Tenor, and Bass. The method may also contain exercises in multiple clefs.
