About us
Over the past few years, Muslims worldwide have been calling out for assistance. There are numerous affected countries which need our ongoing support. Entire countries, villages, and communities are affected by famine, drought, war and oppression right now as you read this. And whilst off shore this is occurring, there are also brothers and sisters right here in our own backyard, who also from time to time require our assistance. Yes, we are very fortunate in a country such as Australia, Alhamdulillah, however, it has come to our attention that there is an increasing amount of Australian Muslims facing times of hardship and need. Many born and new Muslims and their families go through various times of hardship such as broken marriages, financial loss, natural disasters, accidents and illness, forcing them to reach out for help. As our brothers and sisters in Islam, we are obligated to afford assistance to them as well.
Let us tell you part of the inspiration for the House of Sadaqa Project……………
One beautiful Muslim community here in Sydney, Australia, was informed of a new Muslim in financial need. Having heard of the situation, the community immediately donated cash funds without question. Then, only a few months later, they were informed of an entire family in need. This family required a home and home contents. The community came together again, and not only did they find them accommodation, but also filled their entire house with furniture. They also donated a significant amount of financial aid, clothing, and services, such as brothers collecting the donated items and delivered them by truck to the house. Still to this day, they are receiving phone calls from community members asking where they can send their donations of various items to. Upon hearing this, we had a light bulb moment, Alhamdulillah! We decided we needed storage space so we could continuously collect donations, store them, then distribute them as needed. And as we continued to think... show more this through, we were flooded with ideas by the Toufique (enabling Grace) of ALLAH swt of how to make this project work, insha’ALLAH. So, here’s how House of Sadaqa will operate, insha’ALLAH…
‘House of Sadaqa’ (House of Charity)
Your role as an individual, family, business or community is to donate. Not just financially, but by donating items such as:
-Furniture
-Clothing
-Manchester
-Toys
-Appliances
-White Goods
-Educational Resources
-Services
-Non perishable food items
-Your time as a volunteer
-Gifts
-Job offers
These items need to be in a good condition.
And our role is to collect, manage, store and distribute (nationally and globally) these items.
We are currently leasing a small Warehouse in North West Sydney. We, with your assistance, will collect donated goods and store them at the House of Sadaqa Warehouse. When we have Australian Muslims in need, we will distribute these items and services to them. If there is a surplus of items being donated, then we will convert them into cash funds by selling the excess. These funds will then be used for the ongoing running costs of the project. In conjunction with this, any items that can be sent overseas to affected countries will be. House of Sadaqa will also be working with other reputable organizations in order to collect items for containers to be shipped regularly to varying countries in need, insha’ALLAH.
