  Dr. Smith on 5 th Street in Washington. Check out Animal Hospital of Washington. 636-239-2745. He and his staff are caring and empathetic. Dr. Smith takes his time when examining and treating my pets & never suggests expensive tests or treatments unless he's exhausted other possibilities. He and his staff always handle my pets gently, responded quickly when one of my pets had an emergency & generally go out of their way to make a visit to the vet a good experience. (15 or 20 years ago, Angel, one of the employees, actually went under a nearby house, in the crawl space, to bring out my panicked cat after his carrier broke & he ran next door. She still works there!)

  I need suggestions on a good veterinarian that is cheap...I know cost shouldn't matter when it comes to the health of a living thing and we shouldn't get it if we can't afford it but our dog was a dumped dog that we took in instead of taking to the pound or letting get hit by a car or die some other horrible way. Now all I need is a place to get him checked out and caught up on shots.and I don't have a lot of money!
