I am filing a complaint about my children's pediatrician. The wait time at her office averages about 1.5 to 2 hours each visit. Today I took off half the day from work to take my son to her about his allergies, and he stops breathing at night when he sleeps. After we waited in the waiting area for approximately 1 hour, we were escorted to a room where we waited for approximately 1 more hour. When I finally stepped into the hallway to complain, a tall girl with long hair came giggling around the corner. I politely told her what time it was and what time my son's appointment was and that we had been waiting for nearly 2 hours. She told me I needed to leave and "reschedule" his appointment. I then told her that I would be rescheduling his appointment, but it would be with another doctor somewhere else. She smiled and said "that's fine," giggled and walked off. My son and I left and through me telling other people what happened I have learned that this pediatrician does this on purpose. She has patients come in and wait for extended periods of time, and when they get tired of waiting and finally leave, she bills their insurance anyway. I have contacted the insurance company to make sure she does not bill for this visit, but I think her other patients need to know what she is doing as well. This is not the first time we have left without being seen. In fact, one office visit in particular back in 2009 was even worse than this one. My son and I waited for over 3 hours for him to be seen. Finally they were closing and the receptionist said we would have to reschedule. I had already paid the co-pay and demanded to be seen. I made such a fuss the doctor did come out and took one look at my son (who was suffering from Asthma and Pneumonia at the time) and sent him straight to the hospital where was admitted for 3 days!! Something really needs to be done about this horrible doctor!
