Buying a property in GTA, need to get a lawyer for closing. Cost estimates and recommendations? Here are the details:
-From BC and buying a property in GTA. In BC, lawyer is not required
-Apparently need a lawyer to set up direct deposit and do the land transfer
So what are the costs you guys have incurred when buying a property? How much is an average for a lawyer fee?
Also does it matter where I get the lawyer? For instance I'm in London, ON for work but the property is in Toronto so can I just get a local real estate lawyer or do I need to get one near the property?
P.S. this is my first time buying a house so if someone can explain the first time home buyer tax credit it will be greatly appreciated!

www.realestatelawyers.ca Lawyer fee is about 800. All they do is this. They also come to you to sign the paperwork and deal with the keys. So much more convenient than having to visit them twice.
