  I shall be in Tucson on 10th May prior to a 2 week birding tour. Can anyone suggest a couple of places to visit for some local birding. I have read about the Botanical Gardens & Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Are they worth a look to get me used to your birds? I need to use local tranport or a taxi.

  Yes! both are great for learning about our local birds, plants, etc. Tucson Botanical Gardens is right in town, and should be bus-able depending on your starting location. You'll need to get a taxi or rental car to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. We've got great birding at our Mason Center, too, but unfortunately, not easily accessed by public transport.   There were a couple at Reid park a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure about current sightings since I've been out of town. Check the rare bird alert at www.tucsonaudubon.org to see.
