  Hi ARNO, I got some bad news about Red the other day when I took her in for teeth cleaning and the removal of a few small lumps at the LASPCA clinic. All three lumps were grade 2 mast cell tumors. While they were able to completely remove 2, they didn't go in deep enough to remove all of the third. I went out to the VCA in Metairie, and they gave me an estimate of between 700-900 to go in to try to completely remove the rest of the tumor. I know this page is frequented by many people that are very knowledgable about dogs and their health issues. I'm looking to get a second opinion, does anyone know of any reliable vets offices in the area? Has anyone else had experience dealing with these mast cell tumors? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi Bonnie - we use Lake Animal Hospital by Dorignacs on Veterans - 504-837-1730 - we just had the same procedure done there on one of the dogs at our shelter, Diamond. Please go see them and please keep us updated on her status. ~Traci
