A quick search on the internet reveals millions of inspiring images and many thousands of inspiring quotes about photography and the way it can capture a special moment in time. One that the creative team behind STUDIO81 lives by is “A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart, and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it,” by the renowned American photographer Irving Penn.
From brave beginnings in 2008 when owners Dorin and Jeff decided to throw caution to the wind and work full-time in photography, the team at STUDIO81 has built up a formidable body of work. Recently they were also acknowledged as one of the most exciting business in the fashion-forward Newmarket area in Auckland in the ANZ Newmarket Business Excellence Awards.
“We are all about creative personal expression – helping you tell the story about you, your family or your passion, in a way that best reflects who you are and what drives you,” says Dorin Ranee. To do this the STUDIO81 crew is made up of some of the industry’s finest photographers, editors and make-up artists – all of whom play a crucial part in telling the customer’s story.
“The shoot experience offers our clients the opportunity to be pampered and transformed – being able to express yourself confidently adds enormously to your sense of self-esteem. It’s an incredibly rewarding process for both our clients and the team,” says Jeff, the other half of the creative duo. “Family is also very important to us. We love creating a fun-filled, natural environment that suits the age and stage of the family – whether that means capturing the magic of newborn babies, energetic toddlers or even the family about to spread to all corners of the world as they grow older.”
Quality is absolutely everything. Dorin and Jeff also have made a strong personal commitment to give back to the community and are working with Home and Family Counselling to help raise awareness and much-needed funds to support their incredibly important work. “If we are able to help in some small way to highlight the importance of healthy families, we’ll be very happy,” says Dorin. “We treasure our family and what has become our extended family of colleagues and clients. They are a key part of our success – and we’re delighted that we can share some of the blessings we have received with others.”
