About us

Finedon is a civil parish and town in the Borough of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, with a population at the 2001 census of 4,188 people. Along with Wellingborough, it is twinned with Wittlich, Germany, and Niort, France. In 1086 when the Domesday Book was completed, Finedon (then known as Tingdene) was a large royal manor, previously held by Queen Edith.

Finedon hides away many historic buildings. A notable building in Finedon's history was the Volta Tower, built in 1865 by Mr Mackworth Dolben. This building sadly collapsed in1951 due to being constructed without mortar, the building was a local landmark when it stood.

Finedon still has many historic buildings hidden amongst the town including; Finedon Hall, The Ice Tower, It's Unique Water Tower and The Obelisk along with many other beautiful cottages and landmarks.

We often share events courtesy of people letting us know-so thankyou to Sheree Lawman for updating us every now and then with the latest of events (although we do remember them sometimes ourselves!)

Also a big thankyou to our chief photographer; Laura Smith who frequently sends us her latest great Finedon Photos.

However...Finedon Northants' Identity remains a mystery. And for now, we would much rather stay that way.
