Any recommendations for AC-Heat companies? Our Trane heat pump is having a hard time keeping up. The auxillary/emergency heat won't kick in. Its only blowing out 60 degree air.

This is the exact reason we invested in a good wood burning system..OUr heat pump never works well in temp like this. We have been heating with wood for 7 yr and my house is warmer than t was with our heat pump. We stay at 68-71 when it is cold like it is now. We burn 24/7 when it is this cold. Load the fireplace at night before bed and Hubby loads it when he gets up to bring it back up. We went with an http://www.icc-rsf.com/en/rsf-woodburning-fireplaces
We are looking into a new HVAC system soon. Was wondering if anyone in the Cape or this general area has a heat pump without a secondary fuel source.

We have a heat pump as we are total electric house. Overall we never had an issue with heating. However about 5 yrs ago we put in a RSF fireplace we have the Opel 2. http://www.icc-rsf.com/en/rsf-woodburning-fireplaces We heat with wood vs using our heat pump for heating. I have found the fireplace keeps our house even temp and warmer than the heart pump ever has. We load before bed and start it again in the morning when we get up. We load all day or until it is too warm. In the late fall and early spring we usually only have to burn in the morning and that keeps the house at good temp. It is vented in our air ducts so that we can heat the entire house. We did this to save $$ on our heating bill. We at the highest bill in the summer pay about $250 when running ac 24/7 however winter we average about 160-175 for our BG&E bill.
