We car camped in Nevada and stayed in the state parks which were very nice and had showers. Stayed at the South Fork State Recreation Area and the Vally of Fire State Park. http://parks.nv.gov/parks/map/ Also check out Forest Service and BLM camps here: http://www.recreation.gov/unifSearchResults.do Also check out Great Basin National Park. http://www.nps.gov/grba/index.htm

Try crazyguyonabike.com. A few routes. Also the ACA has routes down US 50. It's a great route but very empty. Have plenty of everything and travel in the late fall when it's cool. Spring tends to have a lot of wind and rain. There is one stretch where it's 90 miles between towns. That said, an epic route I'd like to do again. There is also an annual ride down 50.
Hey all, I'm planning on cycling Lands End to John O'Groats next year. Can anyone recommend a good route? Looking to complete the cycle in about 13 days and wild camp as...

The Cyclists Touring Club do a Lands End to John O'Groats pack, including three detailed routes for different types of touring.

Tons of information here including a large number of blogs all devoted to Lejog and Jogle. http://www.cycle-endtoend.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1
Jon R. replied:
I know nothing about the route but it looks to be a little over 800 miles. Seems totally reasonable to do in 13 days doing about 70 miles/day but it will be a serious cycling trip with not much time to get off the bike and sight see (this is how I like to tour but many will argue otherwise). I'd look into bothies and see if there are any along the way. https://vimeo.com/126241724
Steve H. replied:
Check out the CTC website(ctc.org.uk). They have route maps from members that had done it, usually including camping details, bike shops etc. 13 days is a reasonable time in which to do it, but try to avoid the main roads, they're awful, especially in summer. Devon & Cornwall will be hilly! Wild camping in England is possible, though not recommended, in Scotland it's much easier. Avoid the big cities (Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow) & you should be fine.
Mick P. replied:
13 days should be fine. I did LEJOG back in 2008 and managed to stay off the busier roads for most of the way. Ended up doing just over 1000 miles in 14 days very comfortably. I wrote a short blog on this if you're interested: https://mickphilpotts.wordpress.com/2013/03/17/lejog-2008/

Silver Gulch is great food and beer! If you can get to Denali, they have great hiking and camping. Plus, 49 th State Brewery is out that way. While in Denali, make your own trails. That is what we did when we took my mom out there. Loose Moose has great burgers too!

Fairbanks has been reviewed by "food" people and most have drawn the conclusion that there are not any really good restaurants in this town. I concur. Some are down right pig slop and some are just mediocre. None truly are good food. The majority of people really don't know what good food is so they are happy with their choices. Even Silver Gulch, for the most part, is prepackaged frozen food, they fancy it up to make you think it is worth the money, but it is still not high quality and it is very over priced. The best restaurants in this town are Bobby's, Geraldo's, Lemon Grass, Pita Place, The Crepery, and Lunch by the News Miner. Pita Place and Lunch are the most "high quality" food on the list.

If you want to avoid the massive hill out of Cherbourg and don't mind riding about 18 miles the municipal at Barfleur is fine http://camping.barfleur.fr/en/pitch-rental/ Personally I'm not keen on La Saline.

Hey everybody, since we re in south africa cycling it s always hard to find places to camp. There s no nice information page where i can look up camping sites easily....

I'd put it on www.crazyguyonabike.com under articles or reviews. That way, it could be updated and people could add to it. Since this is a bike touring forum, most people are familiar with the cgob site.

Anyone tour and camp eastern Canda, like Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia? Any advice?
Gordon W. replied:
I did a 3.5 day trip across PEI last summer, mostly on the Confederation trail. Although not camping, the Trailside inn was great place to stay in Mt Stewart trailside.ca . Planning another trip this year following mainly the coast from Borden to Charlottetown then up to Mt Stewart then return via the trail. The Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia is also a great area to ride.

Camp Henry is one of the 4 Camps that make up USAG Daegu. Camp Henry is mostly offices, dorms, ACS, and the movie theater. Family housing is located on Camp George and I believe you can find pics within the Moving House for the Military Spouse albums. They are apartment style units with no yards, but they do allow animals. Usually the rule is if there is space, you have to live on base, but if they are full, you can live off base and OHA (Overseas Housing Allowance) can you get you into a really nice place and the housing office can coordinate that if needed, although you would have to go through a local realtor. We were stationed there from 2012-2014.
