Anybody know a good mechanic? Cheap place to get good quality tyres? Relatively new to the city (loving it). Any advice on good mechanics and where to get tyres without...

I use Midas in Morley, myself. Local and never done me any wrong. And use Bob Jane for my rubber. Another really good one is Ray at T&T Autos in Wangara. Been our family mechanic for many years now, very happy with his work.

If you want to save money and don't mind a little extra hassle, buy tyres online. I used this site before with no problems: http://www.thewheeldeal.com.au and got 4 x Nexen N3000 235/45R17 94W for $484 plus $140 P&H. You then take the tyre to a local fitter, it's usually around $15-$30 per tyre to get them installed. My price was about 50% of what it would have cost to buy local. Find a tyre you want on the site, ring around for a couple of quotes and you'll see how much cheaper buying online is.
