I used to work at an optometry and wearing them once or twice won't ruin your eyes, especially if they are non-perscrip and you use a a good solution with it (bio true is one of the better ones) but it's still not advisable. This is something you are putting into your eye and I have seen people come into the office with cheap coloured contacts that they wear daily and I could already see the damage starting on their eyes. Now if you have a light eye colour like a blue, grey or green you're in a great position - there is a brand of contact that you can get non-perscrip for about $40 called FreshLook Colour Blends and they create a more natural look of coloured contact. If you have brown eyes it could still work, just not as vibrant. Acuvue 2 Colours and Coopervision Expressions are also great contacts that aren't as cheap as KK Circle but certainly won't damage your eyes at all if you use the right solutions and wear them for the appropriate amount of time (if they are the rewearables don't forget to clean them off so there is no calcium build-up). In b4 any haters, I spoke to the opticians and optometrists that I used to work with about this.

^ I highly recommend Oasis Acuvue colour lenses. Most comfortable thing to put in your eyes. And if you buy a box of them, they're pretty cheap. But they won't make your eyes look bigger since the lenses are of the small diameters.
