I've had a little work done by Tim Steffens at Data Comm in Aitkin. He wants $75 to take a look but that is applied to the bill if he fixes it. 218-927-7019. Good luck.

Does anyone know a reputable computer repair shop? My friend's computer has an issue with the CPU. I'm not completely sure what's wrong with it, but I just know that the...

Something in your CPU tuning is wrong in the bios. Base clock of 3.5GHz and turbo of 0.75GHz is off. The turbo, from all of the runs I've seen, is higher than the base CPU clock. Hardware specs aren't a problem as you suspect, although that spinny drive will have a noticeable impact on speed when loading textures and maps from disk. A couple of fast ssds in a raid1 will get your read speeds up. Writes will slow a bit, but it won't be noticeable when gaming. Find some reasonable setting for the CPU and/or see if there are known bugs with the version of bios on that motherboard. To answer the direct question though - no, I don't know of any places that do good work on custom builds.

The only place I know is Delta Electronics, which is just right of the Home Despot off Peachtree Industrial and Tilly Mill Rd. I used to do a lot of business with them, but haven't in several years so I don't know how much they might have changed. Worth a call though.

Are the temps normal? Also the benchmark reports you have a lot of background processes running, did he look into those?

I don't vouch for the shop, but I knew some folks who worked at **Computer Sleuths**@2815 Buford Dr NE #106, Buford, GA 30519. IIRC, it's owned by the same guy who owns the bookstore and coffee shop in the same plaza. I can vouch for the coffee shop having some really good coffee and tea. And the bookstore having some amusing political/religious book displays.

update your bios, Get a new SSD and freshly install OS. if that doesn't work it's not fixible.

No idea on pricing for such a repair, but I'd recommend you to call and speak with Peter at [Sunsky Computers](https://sites.google.com/site/sunskycomputer/). He's done several laptop screen repairs and is always full of good advice. They're in Lawrenceville, near Sugarloaf and 316. As others said, check RAM timing in BIOS. Try safe mode and see if that makes any differences. Maybe obvious, but if he's running any OC type stuff, disable all of that. And the 101 here, if he made any recent changes/installs, undo those.

I'm an IT technician I'll take a look at it for you. PM sent. If you're trying to save money don't go to Fry's or MC, and you should definitely get a refund if they didn't fix the problem.
