Best Home Inspector in the city? Looking for a good (very thorough) home inspector in the city. Can anyone recommend a home inspector that will really, truly, tell it...

I used [David Birenbaum](https://www.eicsstlouis.com) and was very happy with the inspection. My house is 80+ years old, and he caught a lot of things. Made for a nice to do list after we moved in. As I've continued doing projects around the house, I haven't find much that wasn't in the report. Edit: The final inspection report was 38 pages. Very thorough.

Paul Frost at Evergreen Property Inspectors helped my daughter with their home inspection recently. I love that he took the time to talk about the utility shut-offs, system maintenance, and gave advice on what to keep an eye on over time as they were first time home buyers. The report was easy to read and he went up on a ladder where he could and used a drone to look at other parts of their roof and I was surprised that the video was so good. I am not sure how to create a link to their site:) Found it! www.evergreenpropertyinspectors.com

Look up Mike Boyd of The Architective. I specifically wanted someone who knew old houses and he was very knowledgeable and detailed. Message me if you want contact details.
Greystone. They are out of Lake St. Louis nut work all over the Metro Area. They have a flawless review on Google (5 star review with 108 reviews) and we just used them for our new home in Benton Park. They were extremely thorough.

John Bean was great: https://www.bpgwi.com/inspectors/815/mo/john-bean He came with his son, and I learned so much about the house and what upkeep/maintenance I should do!

I've used Castle Home Inspections twice and have been happy both times.

[Gary Dingledine](https://www.bpgwi.com/inspectors/338/mo/gary-dingledine) did mine, and was very thorough/professional. Dude also looks like Tommy Lee Jones, so there's that

IMO, I'd use someone who I'SNT experienced with old homes. I say that because I want them to be appalled at all the crazy old home stuff they find and tell me about it so I can make a decision on whether it is something I deem an issue or not. We used Mike the Architective for our inspection when we purchased our 120 year old home, and I really liked him and he was a great guy who is extremely knowledgeable about old homes in the City, but I do feel because of that he is a little more forgiving of the old home "quirks" then maybe an inspector would be who is used to working in the county on newer homes. Just my 2 cents...

[Dean Vorhies](https://www.bpgwi.com/inspectors/mo/dean-vorhies) is well regarded.
