Locked Keys In Car EDIT: I had my mom call her insurance company and verified she does have roadside assistance, turns out Pop-A-Lock is one of the companies they work...

It happens to everyone. It happened to my wife TWICE in one day several years ago. It was under $100 the first time and about $50 the 2 nd time because he got a kick out of it and he was still in the area.

HFD has slim jims and big easy bars in all of their fire engines - if you're near a station, you could always ask if they'll do it for you. Typically they are reserved for "child locked a vehicle" calls, but if they're bored they might make an exception.

When you lock yourself out enough times, you'll become a pro at making your way in somehow. Tow truck drivers usually do it for $20-$40 and even seem some do it for cheaper if they are close enough to you. Doesn't take but 10 seconds for them.

I locked my keys in my '91 Ford Ranger once. Didn't feel like paying an exorbitant amount so I kicked out the sliding glass window and replaced it with an exact cut of a sheet of thick plastic.

Invest in AAA $100 a year gets you pop lock service as well as 200 miles towing. If you use any of those things once it's worth it. Plus you get discounts at places and travel.

They don't verify anything. I locked my keys in my car last year and called AT&T roadside service. Some random dude in a Camry pulled up, wedged my window, and unlocked my car in less than a minute. Sketch as shit but I was in my car! On a side note if you have AT&T, roadside assistance is $2.99/mo. They'll pop your locks, change a tire, bring you gas, or tow if your car breaks down.

I once locked myself out of a house, and two cars, one of which was running. Feel better?

While you're at Home Depot get one of those magnet key-keepers to put somewhere on the undercarriage of your/her ride. Make it unpleasant to get to and you'll be golden.
