The Academy@The Family Church is great!
Heather S. replied:
There's tons, pretty much every single preschool in Gainesville has 3 year olds and pre-k so I would recommend looking up a directory of Gainesville preschools and finding one close to you that fits your needs. I know there's one big list on fun4 gatorkids.com

My School Childcare Center at Campus Church of Christ! It is clear across town for us but is so worth the drive so my son will continue to go there through VPK. They are FANTASTIC!
Hey Ladies,
Trying to plan our first trip to Disney for June. My mom is coming from Virginia, bringing my 12 year old niece. I'll have a 5 year old and a 2(almost 3)...
Ann C. replied:
I believe under three is free for Disney. I have.purchased tickets on Ebay before and had good experiences each time. Also consider the Florida resident deals they do at this time of year. They are lowered price but you buy 3-4 day passes use within a six months time. I find tripadvisor.com a great way to search for hotel deals and to review hotel ratings.
Ann C. replied:
Oh another tip. Bring a small spiral notebook for each small one to use for character signatures. The ones at Disney are way overpriced. There are "Character Stations" throughout the park (marked on your park map) where your child can meet them, get an autograph and you can snap pictures.
Kelly V. replied:
We like staying at the Homewood Suites at Lake Buena Vista. It is very close to the Magic Kingdom, has a free breakfast, and most importantly, each room is a suite! It is very affordable, and they also offer a shuttle to the parks, although I have never used it (the schedule seemed too limiting).

Northwest Gainesville has many. Stepping Stones as above, Holy Trinity, Milhopper Montessori. It's actually NE, but St. Patrick has a great PreK3, and is within easy reach of much of NW.

Jaimi Bello we live in Newberry and I have an 11 year old boy.
Kathy A. replied:
check out fun4 gatorkids.com they list all the schools and give you the contact information. your 3 year old wont be able to participate in free VPK. My children attend/have attended St. Michael's Day school. They are the only ones that offer 3 day 9-2 time. We also loved stepping stones at Trinity
Elena D. replied:
Millhopper Montessori! Open house for new students is next Friday.
Olivia P. replied:
Abiding Saviors registration starts in a couple of weeks. I can't say enough good things about them! I'd say the sooner you register the better
Carley F. replied:
Stepping Stones for sure!!
Samantha V. replied:
Abacus Learning Center in Haile Plantation is amazing! Your 3 year old could go in the multi-age classroom this Fall and then they have VPK for the following year.
Meghan B. replied:
Millhopper Montessori! I have 3 boys there & am over the moon happy with our experiences there. Open house is next Friday the 16 th from 10-12:)

Good morning, my name is Amber, my family am I just moved to Gainesville from Port Orange (Daytona beach area) and I have 2 children 4,1 I'm looking for preschool and...
Nicole R. replied:
Samantha Ellison, agreed. Which is why I recommended Abacus. My oldest daughter attended and they held nothing back on what they taught. My daughter graduated VPK reading at kindergarten level. She knows addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I loved their curriculum and the teachers are exceptional. I know several parents whose children struggled in the beginning and by the end these kids were not only meeting, but exceeding expectations when tested on all aspects of the scale. My second daughter will start Abacus this Fall while my oldest will start kindergarten able to read and count beyond 100
Lilly B. replied:
Not all VPK's have low standards. You just have to do your research. We are out of gainesville, so I'm not sure what is there...but my daughter will be going to a private christian school who offers VPK. I've looked at their ratings, I checked out the teachers and classrooms. The curriculum is A-BEKA...which actually has very high standards. If you go on this VPK website for Alachua county ( http://www.elcalachua.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=9 )...you should be able to find ratings of each VPK. Then I would take some advice from other mom's on here....then go look at them in person. There are some REALLY GREAT programs out there.

Cindy H. replied:
I second The Academy@The Family Church....wonderful preschool, VPK and elementary school!
I know we have had multiple posts about preschools but I have a specific question- does anyone know which preschools have webcams for parents to access throughout the...
Jenny W. replied:
Samantha Ellison is the director at KidWorks Millhopper
Nichole C. replied:
Kiddie Academy is awesome! Love being able to see what my child is doing during the day. They have the camera website very secure with passwords and you can only view the playground or classroom your child is in. I do know the 2 year old class is full right now though.
Danielle M. replied:
Kiddie Academy does have a camera and VPK. The camera won me over but I really did not like the school and took my son out and switched to Abacus. I would not recommend Kiddie Academy.
Danielle M. replied:
Samantha Ellison agree. We used VPK for my first son who was unprepared for K. My second did pre-k at Queen of Peace and started K right on track!
Magali J. replied:
I know our daycare refuses to use webcams because of security reasons, same reason I don't use a webcam baby monitor http://m.news4 jax.com/news/Web-cam-warning/15824700 Before reading up on it, I loved the idea of being able to check in on my computer, though. Creepers are all over. :(
Who takes photos for your preschool? Ours used to use Gator Photo, but it sounds like they have relocated. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
