Dentist Recommendation Hi everyone, I'm a college student staying in Ithaca for the summer and am in need of dental services. I checked out some places online but...

Go over to the right, put the word "dentist" in the search field, and limit the search to /r/ithaca. This question gets asked somewhat regularly. Edit: And to avoid just posting a douchey reply, my family goes to Richards and McCutcheon by Convenient Care. Typically most people go to Tompkins Dental or Fall Creek when they first come to town and regret it. I did, however, receive a proper root canal from Tompkins Dental. My current dentist looks at my X-Rays and notes that they did a good job.

Ithaca is the first place I've lived where the second highest paid profession (being a dentist) has no one glowing over any of the providers. My dentist growing up (down in PA) was really good, and my last dentist in IN was *awesome*. I've yet to find one out here that is a clear front runner, but many carry warnings and advisories from their former clients.

I see Doctor Zax and have been happy with her: http://www.advancedentaltech.com

We have been happy with Hart & Welsh. They've been very kind and they've always been able to get us in quickly. http://www.yelp.com/biz/hart-and-welsh-dds-ithaca-2

I just started going to Cayuga Dental in Triphammer Mall- they are very friendly, helpful, knowledgable, and genuine.

I personally like Dr. Catalfamo on Buffalo St. She's kind of odd, but does good work and reasonably priced if you have no insurance.
Ithaca peeps, looking for recommendations for a dentist. Either post here or pm me.
Thanks!

Dr. Gupta, Cayuga family dental trip hammer mall. Receptionist is totally rude, but dr. Gupta is the best!

Kirsten E. replied:
Dr Kamp at fall creek. He's been my dentist since I was a kid and now he's my son's dentist as well. Love their office!!
Kendra H. replied:
Fall Creek family dental is awful - worst service ever. Dr Peterson at Acahti is fabulous. I told Jenny to go there for her dental issues, and they did a great job. And Peter has had good experiences with them, too, and he's had a LOT of dental work recently (I'm sure he'll share if you beg him?). But even if you just need to go for a cleaning, Peterson's the way to go.
Anybody here in Ithaca have a dentist to recommend? I know it's a long shot, but what the hell. Does anyone actually like dentists?? (Apologies to my lovely...
Amelia F. replied:
Dr. Kamp! I've been going to him since I was a kid. Also, I take the gals to dr. Catalfamo by BJM. Both are pretty stellar! Xo
Heather T. replied:
I loved Dr. Orcutt!
Pam H. replied:
Dr Mel Richards! And the McCutcheon brothers! And Betsy Noel! A great practice.
Anyone here have experience with Fall Creek Dental in Ithaca? I'm looking for a dentist, and pretty much every review of every dentist in town is bad.
Liz H. replied:
We go to Richards & McCutcheon (http://www.ddsithaca.com/) and have never been unhappy. I usually see Dr. Richards but he is in the process of lightening his caseload and moving towards retirement so I saw Dr. Patel the last time and I was happy with him. They are not the cheapest place in town but I feel confident that they are doing a proper job with our teeth and I have not felt oversold on procedures.
Malinda C. replied:
Actually I had a bad experience with Fall Creek and everyone I talked to has as well, actually I haven't ever heard of a good one about them, but this was a few years ago ... We go to Dr. Elberty in Freeville now and I don't have a single complaint. They are very nice and earlier last year when my son had a broken leg the lady at the front desk shoveled a path for us ... It was really sweet

My co-worker has been going to Ira Kamp at N. Tioga & Lincoln for decades and recommends him.

Nicole S. replied:
Dr. Fey is amazing. Ditto on the needing to pay up front, but Ivan's whole family and me have had great experiences there.
Joe D. replied:
Ira Kamp! You won't regret it. He's great! you do the paperwork, and get fully reimbursed from BCBS

My family goes to the office of James McCutcheon off of Warren Road. They are great there, and their website does offer a payment plan. http://www.ddsithaca.com/insurance-finances/

Duthie & Subteleny DDS on N. Aurora street. They're so nice.
Stacy F. replied:
Thanks, Fiona and Kara! I just booked an appointment at Duthie & Subteleny for Tuesday.
Kara P. replied:
Yay! I hope all goes well! I scoured reviews when I was in Ithaca because I'm really dental-phobic, and I loved Duthie & Subteleny. I was sad to move away.
My dentist, Dr. Gardner, retired. So, I need a new dentist and/or dental hygeinist in Ithaca. Recommendations?
Mariano G. replied:
I can recommend Dr. Elberty in Freeville. I also know Dave Heck personally to be a nice guy but have never been to him as a patient. I DIS-recommend Comisi, I had issues with his policies.
