I took my dog to Montachusett Animal Hospital for acupuncture for arthritis and honestly I didn't see any favorable results. I have used acupuncture myself and believe in its benefits. What I found with my dog however is that she didn't like that zingy sensation that occurs when the needle hits the meridian. Because she didn't understand the stimuli it frightened her and created anxiety greater than The benefit. She grew stressed just getting in the car to go to the vet so I discontinued the therapy. I gave her Metacam daily and she tolerated it very well with no organ damage after 7 years on least effective dose. The meds were the difference between limping and not and signs of pain to no signs of pain.
