My mom had knee replacement surgery at 84. Dr. Moses in Norman did hers. She has done well, but she did exactly as she was told inclduding therapy and that hateful machine they send home with you. Hers is much better than it was, but it still hurts some. We think this is due to arthritis. Before it wouldn't work but it works well now. It was hard!!

I need one! Hurt mine in dancing! Keep putting it off! First they said I could have a partial, then said because of my RA I would have to have a full! Dr. Cory Ponder Is my doctor. He's with Oklahoma sports medicine and works on OU players.

My husband had total knee replacement last May and has done wonderful.. He had it done at Bone and Joint...Dr Kirkpatrick (in Norman) did it. I think Medicare paid for all of it....even home health care after surgery.

I had a total knee replacement in September. I've done great. I highly recommend Carlan Yates at McBride. He's the doc for the Thunder.

Do you have a medicare supplement? If so, depending on the plan you could pay as little as zero. Sit down with the hospital people and have a chat about it. They can give you a detail estimate of your portion. Medicare usually pays 80% by itself. If you don't have a supplement, consider taking one out before you go any further. Blue Cross/Blue Shield of OK has some excellent plans that could save you a fortune for hospitalizations and medical.
