Tree service? Just got a quote for some tree removal. Quote was over $1,000 per tree. Admittedly, our lot is a topographical challenge, but still.
Anyone have any...

Arbortech is great. Tree removal is pricey.

My Dad owns his own tree business here in Goldsboro. Depending on the size of the tree and what's around the tree(house, fence, powerlines, etc), it can easily run 1 k+ per tree. The average for him is around 300-500 though.

Youngs tree tech did a great job at our house. 12 trees in total at a very competitive price.

We've used Davey [http://www.davey.com] and been very happy with their work, but $1,000 a tree doesn't sound high for mature trees.

Arbormax did a great job a few years ago and the price wasn't bad either. If there are properties within tree-reach of the trees to be removed you probably don't want to go with the cheapest...though cheapest may not be a good indicator of the quality of the work. Make sure they're insured anyway.

We used ArborMax last year, and they were great. $1650 for 3 big oaks, including one that they had to hold with a crane over my house.

Thanks for the responses. We'll keep shopping around. Might just have to do this piecemeal.
