In need of a garage door repair company. Thank you!

I'm willing to bet that most garage door installers cut corners and do not do the job properly. Springs need to be sized exactly for the weight of the door. Most installers will just tighten the spring more or less, which is not the way to do it. Wi th any form of opener disconnected, you should be able to lift the door with one hand and if you let it go, it should stay there and not go zooming up or crashing down. I found lots of useful information here: http://ddmgaragedoors.com/index.php Also, in a torsion spring installation, you should request two springs instead of one. As the spring tightens or loosens, the length increases or decreases, which then pushes or pulls on the end bearing plates and increases wear. Two springs will cancel each other out. After some ridiculous quotes, I decided to upgrade my doors to high-lift myself.

Last year, Sears installed a belt drive 1/2 HP Liftmaster garage door opener $425 with everything included. The old Genie was 25 years old and 1/3 HP and direct drive. I have a pair of doors. Other Genie is still alive and kicking. They said the one wa s broken had a cracked electronic board. Time to time was not opening or stoping in the middle. I had to hit with a stick to get it going. They said extereme cold or hot temperatures causes that problem. Cracking the circuit board while expanding or shrinking. Installer told me I got my moneys' worth from the old one. Now everything is Chinese made and cheap plastic.
Rob Ference/ Amazon Roofing is my reccomendation to hire it out. I dont have experience with any garage door people. Both jobs have safety hazards and most would hire it out.
