Hello friends & neighbors,
My son Nicholas and I took home an injured kitten last night. She can't stand on her hind legs. Does anyone know of a free/low cost vet that I...

He's not free but Dr. Luckow of Broadway Animal Hospital is wonderful. Otherwise, I'd suggest bringing her to a no-kill animal rescue group and letting them care for her. Anyone else?

I can second the Mayor's Alliance - a friend was caring for the cat of someone who died and all expenses were covered. Also contact WaHi Cats - they were fantastic when my cat got lost (I found her three days later - long story). Blue Pearl vets at 410 West 55 th Street were wonderful when the cat of a friend of mine was ill. I don't know if they do anything for a discount - this sounds like a very special case. I hope you can work something out. So sad! I think lana's suggestion of fostering the cat is a great one, but then I don't know if you can keep it later... Lana?

Do check the WaHi Cats people. While their main goal is to tend to the feral cats in the area, they are a font of information and were immensely helpful to me. http://www.wahicats.org/

Diana Hope all goes well and you get to keep her. I've adopted many a cat found on Inwood streets.
