Allyson W. asked: Can any DC friends recommend a good auto body shop that won't try to price gouge me? In other news, I saw the guy who won't tell Mike who hit our car and my blood was boiling. I really feel like I'm driving a "hooptie". And it's rattling too.

Mattie J. answered: Don't you worry about this car it is not worth you health. It is a car and you have insurance.

Melanie P. answered: That just sucks. My car was hit several years ago and was not a hit and run, but was the other driver's fault. Even his insurance co. admitted that from the start. Didn't affect my premiums, was reimbursed for my deductible and had a rental car during repairs, which took much longer than expected because of issues with wrong parts being sent.

Allyson W. answered: Thx all for the info and encouragement and please forgive all my typos earlier. I was typing way to fast in a distressed state. Lol

Allyson W. answered: You're right Mattie- although, you know we can't file it on our insurance because we're the ones who'll have our premiums go up. And these kids ride around the good sharing a dirt bike, 4 wheeler, whatever without insurance or giving a crap about anyon...See More

Elaine R. answered: Did you guys call the police and file a report? File it as a Hit and Run? Your insurance shouldn't go up. Remember my car got hit in front of my house? No increase. There is a place on the Hill -- will send u the info.

Elaine R. answered: If the police show up...maybe they can talk to that "guy".

Allyson W. answered: The police were there, there is a cop stationed at the rec. he has a report. Thx for the info. The cop seems to be the only one trying to help right now.

Elaine R. answered: Trust me, hit and run is such a common thing in DC -- your insurance company probably knows this.

Mattie J. answered: I was in and accident last you and the person that hit me did not have insurance we file my insurance and it did not go up and I had not used my insurance in over 20 years. I had a $500 deductible I paid it and they gave me $300 bk. If you use you insurance make that police report never know someone may come forth.

Angel P. answered: Your insurance won't go up, you need to file it, the demage will be more than the deductible trust me, just went through. I for some very strange reason they increase your insurance for a hit and run, please promise me you will cancel it immediAtely! You should get a rental as well, while your car is being repaired. If the frame is destroyed they may even total loss it.
