Milissa G. asked:
Hi Ada moms, I need some help. I have an 8 year old son who has autism, and we are now looking for a new pediatrician. His current doctor did something that makes me question if he has any idea about the needs of a special needs child beyond those of a child that does not have special needs. Does anyone out there have a doctor for your special needs child that actually seems to know what they are doing (and has some compassion)? Any recommendations?
Alicia C. answered:
Dr Iorga is great. He even had one mom come in after hours so that he could meet the child and get them comfortable
Jessica C. answered:

Dr. Charles R. Mettry, DO, He is hands down the BEST doctor I have ever seen in this state. He knows what his doing, has wonderful bedside mannors and always makes you feel like family. He delivered all three of my sisters and myself 28,35 and 40 Years ago, I have ran into him so many times over the years and no matter where I am he stops ask how the family is doing and really takes the time to let you know he cares. LOL I cant say enough good things about him. 201 N Monte Vista St, Ada, OK 74820 Phone:(580) 436-4200
Judith R. answered:
I second Dr Mettry. He seems very knowledgeable and is willing to include parents in the decision making.
Kali C. answered:
I agree with Melody . Other than Mettry, out of the four peds we've gone through here, I'd suggest Iorga.

Davis sees my grandchildren, all have special needs. He's not condescending or opinionated. He's easy to talk to and the kids are not leery of him.
Milissa G. answered:
We have obviously been seeing the wrong man. I can't wait to get my son into see somebody new. I was never real fond of our doctor, but until today I never thought he did anything wrong, so we stayed. Anxious to see what a real professional has to say. Thanks everyone
Ellen B. answered:
Milissa Green sounds like your son may benefit from having an assessment through The OU Child Study Center in OKC.
Milissa G. answered:
Ellen, thank you for the suggestion. We moved to Oklahoma 2 years ago, and I absolutely love it here, but I have had a hard time finding out about anything that may benefit my son. I will definitely look into that.
