Vickie W. answered: Doesn't matter if in hard water area. Loads of old houses have them but in hard water the lime scale forms a seal. Check with z plumber but Shouldn't be a problem.

Vickie W. answered: Think you can get water authority to test the water as well if it's the supply pipe.
